Engineer, Maintenance Technician ​/ Mechanic

The position of Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to, mechanical operation of Chillers, Boilers, Cooling towers, Electrical systems, Fire alarm systems, HVAC units, Air handler’s, as well as guestroom Inn Comm system. Directs maintenance personnel and conducts repairs as well as preventative maintenance in the plant.

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair on mechanical equipment.
• Identify and troubleshoot problems, make repairs such as replacing bearings and belts, checking for proper alignment, repairing fan coil units, replacing piping and fittings and maintaining appropriate records of preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Respond to requests and make the necessary repairs in a timely and courteous manner.
• Assist with requests to shut down water, steam and gas supplies.
• Change filters on HVAC and fan coil units.
• Understand guests’ service needs and requests; acknowledge guests’ requests politely.
• Work all shifts as needed, including holidays, weekends, vacation/sick relief and during hurricanes.
• Demonstrate mechanical skills and ability to work with computerized energy management systems.
• Have good communication skills, judgment, and ability to perform other duties as required by engineering management.

• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned; work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations.

• Minimum 2 Class Air Conditioning & Boiler Stationary Engineer’s Certificates.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in buildings with complex plumbing systems.
• Broad, practical experience in stationary engineering, building maintenance, electrical, and plumbing.
• Familiarity with hotel systems and equipment to perform repairs within the building.

• Must have engineering experience and 2nd class boilers and a 2nd class air conditioning/refrigeration license.
• Must have a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.

Regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear. Occasionally required to use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. Noise level usually moderate.
