Role DescriptionThe Marine Electronics Technician role is a full‑time, on‑site position located in Belle Chasse, LA. In this role, the technician installs, maintains, and repairs marine electronic systems such as navigation, communication, radar, sonar, and monitoring equipment on vessels and related infrastructure. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include diagnosing electronic faults, performing component‑level repairs, soldering and wiring, conducting routine inspections, and ensuring systems comply with safety and operational standards.
The technician documents work performed, maintains accurate service records, and communicates clearly with vessel crews, supervisors, and vendors regarding system status and required repairs. The role also involves working in marine environments, following safety protocols, and occasionally responding to urgent service needs to minimize downtime.
- Strong foundation in Electronics Technology and Electricity for working with marine electronic systems and components.
- Proficient soldering skills for component‑level repairs, cable terminations, and circuit board work.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting ability to diagnose issues in complex electronic, electrical, and control systems.
- Experience with maintenance and repair of marine or industrial electronic equipment, including routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Relevant technical education or certification in electronics, marine technology, or a closely related field.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment schematics.
- Comfort working in shipboard and industrial environments, adhering to strict safety procedures and guidelines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse technical team.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to vessel and facility locations as required.
