The Electrician / Overhead Crane Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Lockport, LA. This role is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and components on overhead cranes and related equipment. Typical day-to-day tasks include performing preventive maintenance, inspecting cranes for safety and compliance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and completing repairs using appropriate tools and methods. The Electrician / Overhead Crane Mechanic will read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, maintain accurate service records, and communicate clearly with supervisors and customers about findings and repair plans.
The role also involves following company and industry safety standards, supporting other technicians as needed, and contributing to the company’s commitment to quality and reliable service.
- Strong electrical skills, including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of industrial electrical systems and controls.
- Experience with overhead cranes, hydraulic and friction crane systems, and mechanical repair of lifting equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe use of tools and equipment.
- Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to work at heights, climb, lift moderate loads, and perform tasks in industrial environments.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with coworkers, supervisors, and customers in a professional manner.
- Relevant technical training or certification in electrical work, industrial maintenance, or a related field; prior experience as an electrician or crane mechanic is highly beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the Lockport, LA worksite; willingness to work flexible hours and occasional overtime as needed.
