Serve as a foreman over an inmate maintenance crew at the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women.

Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Four years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance;

OR Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.

Job Duties:

• Instruct, supervise, and train inmates performing maintenance.
• Determine when repair work is needed. Create lists of materials needed. Log work repairs.
• Ordering maintenance supplies. Determine what supplies are needed.

Work Environment:

• Employee will be directly supervised by Maintenance Manager. Work with other Maintenance staff and the inmate orderlies trained for maintenance work.
• Employee will work for:
  Provide maintenance support for all areas of the prison.

• Employee will supervise: inmate work crews.

Appointment Type: JOB APPOINTMENT

• A job appointment is a temporary job lasting up to four years; however, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
• This position may also be filled as a probational appointment if a non-temporary position becomes available in the recruitment process.
• If filled by probation, a permanent classified LA State employee, if selected, may be required to accept a probational appointment.
