Overview
Establishment of a list to fill two West Jefferson vacancies (Drainage, Sewerage) and two East Jefferson vacancies (Water, Sewerage).
Responsibilities- Perform skilled electrical and instrumentation work for treatment plant and lift station pump mechanical and equipment devices, or drainage pump station electrical systems.
- Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and associated mechanical and instrument systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical equipment malfunctions; determine repair or replacement of equipment, instrumentation, and electrical parts.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as checking voltage and amperage levels and inspecting wiring conditions in control panels and boards.
- Ensure compliance with safety and accident prevention standards.
- Perform related work as directed.
- Serve as an essential emergency duty status worker; not relieved of duty during evacuation directives.
- Operate a Parish vehicle as required; drivers must possess a valid Class D driver’s license.
- Current Class C or higher Jefferson Parish Electrical license (or valid Louisiana Electrical Work statewide license); proof of a passing exam score is acceptable.
- Significant (at least nine months) full‑time, verifiable, paid work experience in repair and maintenance of high‑voltage electrical apparatus (480–4160 V) and industrial/plant equipment, including electro‑mechanical and programmable motor control panels and pneumatic control systems and devices.
- Experience demonstrating the ability to troubleshoot and read schematic diagrams on the equipment.
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) may be required for some positions.
- Valid driver’s license (Class D if required to drive a Parish vehicle) and acceptable driving record.
Proof of a current and valid passing score on the licensing exam is acceptable for application.
Upon receipt of an employment offer, applicants have ten (10) days to obtain the required Class C or higher Jefferson Parish Electrical license; failure to do so will disqualify the applicant for permanent employment.
Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications may be considered for an entrance salary above the minimum rate.
