Position Summary:

The Developmental Technician supports the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across multiple facilities. The role involves completing required documentation, assisting with scopes of work, troubleshooting equipment issues, and performing preventive maintenance under supervision. The technician collaborates with management and team members to prioritize tasks, ensure regulatory compliance, and identify improvement opportunities. Responsibilities include managing company vehicles and adhering to safety policies while contributing to cost control efforts.

About the team: The Exterior Services team ensures Walmart’s outdoor areas remain safe, clean, and well‑maintained by performing landscaping, equipment operation, and maintenance tasks, and supporting facility upkeep.

• Complete and submit required documentation such as expense vouchers, refrigerant logs, and work orders to senior leadership.
• Assist in gathering capital expenditure lists and develop scopes of work for HVAC/R and energy management system updates.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on HVAC/R equipment under supervision, following established policies and safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with management, coworkers, and business partners to identify priorities, communicate progress, and recommend improvements.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations while maintaining company vehicles and coordinating necessary maintenance.
• Support cost control by conducting price comparisons and submitting warranty claims.

• Experience performing HVAC/R maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting in compliance with safety regulations.
• Ability to complete and submit required documentation accurately, including work orders and refrigerant logs.
• Knowledge of HVAC/R systems, energy management, and preventive maintenance procedures.
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with management, coworkers, and business partners.
• Capability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate progress clearly.
• Commitment to following OSHA and EPA guidelines.
• Adaptability to learn from feedback and support continuous improvement initiatives.

• Hold and maintain Universal or Type I and Type II Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
• Valid state‑issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
• Option 1: 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area. Option 2: 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
• 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to read and speak the English language as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

• Able to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification of at least one year.
• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five years.
• Commercial driving record with no more than two moving violations in the last three years.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance or construction related area for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
• No serious traffic violations as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
• Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

The hourly wage range for this position is $26.00 - $51.00. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed.
