Lead the Lifts Others Can't

For more than 25 years, Bengal Crane & Rigging has supported industrial, petrochemical, construction, and infrastructure projects throughout the Gulf South. Our operations are backed by a fleet ranging from 8-ton hydraulic cranes to 1,600-ton crawler cranes, along with in-house engineered lift-planning capabilities.

From rigging and logistics to cranes and careers, Bengal believes precision and purpose go hand in hand.

We are seeking an experienced Crane & Rigging Superintendent to serve as the senior field leader for our crane, rigging, heavy-lift, and industrial project operations. This position is responsible for turning lift plans and project requirements into safe, efficient daily execution.

The Superintendent will direct field crews and foremen, lead jobsite safety, coordinate with project management, engineering, safety, and dispatch, and ensure projects remain properly staffed, equipped, documented, and on schedule.

Candidates who have progressed through crane operation, rigging, lift-director, foreman, or other field-leadership roles are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily crane and rigging operations at industrial, petrochemical, infrastructure, and construction sites.
  • Direct foremen, crane operators, riggers, signal persons, drivers, and supporting field personnel.
  • Take ownership of jobsite safety and compliance with applicable OSHA requirements, including 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC, ASME B30 standards, company policies, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Lead pre-lift meetings, job hazard analyses, toolbox talks, pre-task planning, and shift handoffs.
  • Serve as the designated Lift Director for critical, engineered, and complex lifting operations when assigned.
  • Review and verify lift plans, engineered drawings, rigging configurations, load information, crane capacities, load charts, communication methods, and site conditions before work begins.
  • Coordinate crane setup, assembly and disassembly, mats, cribbing, crane pads, access routes, barricades, and ground-condition readiness.
  • Confirm that operators, riggers, signal persons, drivers, and other assigned personnel possess the required qualifications, certifications, training, and site access credentials.
  • Review project scopes, customer requirements, job packages, JHAs, pre-task plans, schedules, equipment needs, and staffing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain short-interval and look-ahead schedules for crews, cranes, rigging equipment, transport support, and other project resources.
  • Monitor productivity, equipment utilization, project progress, and field conditions, adjusting work plans and resources as necessary.
  • Partner with Project Managers, client representatives, Safety, Engineering, Dispatch, Transportation, and other internal teams to keep work safe, efficient, and on schedule.
  • Communicate project progress, delays, changes, safety concerns, risks, equipment needs, staffing needs, and customer issues in a timely manner.
  • Coach, develop, and hold field employees accountable for safe work practices, attendance, communication, workmanship, productivity, and professional conduct.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, inspection records, equipment-utilization records, employee qualification records, incident documentation, and project closeout materials.
  • Exercise stop-work authority whenever conditions are unsafe or work cannot be performed in accordance with the approved plan.
  • Coordinate with Safety on inspections, corrective actions, incident response, lessons learned, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Represent Bengal professionally when interacting with customers, contractors, employees, vendors, and project stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • At least seven years of crane, rigging, heavy-lift, heavy-haul, or heavy-industrial field experience.
  • At least three years of experience leading crews, foremen, or multi-craft field teams in a Superintendent, Senior Foreman, Lift Director, General Foreman, or comparable role.
