Maintenance Foreman

Overview

Delgado Community College seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Foreman to repair and remodel buildings and other projects within its Maintenance department. The role involves supervising carpentry crews, managing materials and vendors, and ensuring timely completion of work orders.

• Four years of experience or training in building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; or
• Completion of a two‑year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the aforementioned areas; or
• Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering (or equivalent coursework) plus two years of experience in the aforementioned areas.

• Supervise and install partitions, walls, new door and window openings; repair and install locks, door checks, windows and related equipment; erect scaffolding; inspect wooden structures for safety of operation; operate power equipment such as electric saws, drills, planers, lathes, and sanders.
• Assign and inspect the work of Maintenance Repairer 2’s in the Carpentry Crew; supervise the repair, construction, and remodeling of buildings and other projects.
• Meet with contractors regarding carpentry issues; requisition materials; meet with vendors; maintain cost and time records on work orders.
