Job DescriptionJob Summary
Repairs electrical mining equipment and facilities.
Essential Duties- Perform electrical inspections on mine equipment and record repairs and findings into inspection books.
- Read and understand parts books and manuals and use basic electrical test instruments.
- Maintain and repair low, medium, and high voltage electric systems safely.
- Connect, disconnect, and switch high voltage power cable.
- Install/remove power cable from high voltage mining circuits.
- Perform troubleshooting on AC and DC circuits.
- Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and state and federal environmental regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate equipment to diagnose problems and test after repair.
- Operate light vehicles to travel throughout mine site.
- Maintain work area in a safe and clean manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and instructions, electrical prints, and schematics.
- Knowledge of National Electric Code and MSHA regulations.
- Knowledge of basic electricity and theory.
- Knowledge of high voltage switch gear and be able to safely operate it.
- Knowledge of basic electrical test instruments.
- Knowledge of PLCs and Variable Frequency Drives.
- Communicate and work well with co-workers, supervision, and management.
An associate’s degree in electrical and/or equivalent experience is required. MSHA Green Card certification or ability to obtain a certification is preferred.

Occasionally (0-1/3 of workday):
Lift and/or carry 35 lbs. (tool bags, trail cable, various tools); push and/or pull 84 lbs. (trail cable); grip 65 lbs. (manipulating cable); pinch 15 lbs. (wires and small items); sitting (driving); climbing (ladders and entering/exiting vehicles); and elevated activities (lights and wiring).
Frequently (1/3-2/3 of workday):
Hand coordination; standing and walking; bending and reaching; low level activity (cable and electrical boxes).
Continually (2/3-3/3 of workday):
None.
NOTE:
This position requires ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Employees must be able to safely operate company vehicles/equipment as required.
Employees must be able to work while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety footwear, safety glasses, hard hat, and ear protection.
