Location:
Columbia, LA Pay Rate: $14.00 – $19.00 per hour
Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 7 AM – 5 PM Looking for Maintenance Assistant jobs in Columbia where your technical skills keep equipment operating at its best? This opportunity allows you to troubleshoot problems, perform repairs, and help maintain the systems that keep production moving safely and efficiently.
Job Duties:
- Restore vacated apartments to market-ready condition
- Handle general plumbing, basic electrical work, and minor drywall repairs
- Install appliances and replace light bulbs
- Assist with property upkeep and conduct regular inspections
- Report any unusual issues
- Maintain tools, equipment, and supply inventory
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience Requirements:
- Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic equipment.
- Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, blueprints, or equipment documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and preventative maintenance practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical school, ASE, vocational training, or vehicle maintenance certification preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related technical environment is preferred.
- Experience performing preventative maintenance programs and responding to equipment breakdowns is beneficial.
- Individuals who demonstrate strong troubleshooting abilities, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement are well positioned for success as a Maintenance Assistant.
Physical Capabilities:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work in a variety of industrial environments throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift equipment, tools, and replacement parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely work around moving machinery while following established safety procedures.
- Manual dexterity to operate tools, perform repairs, and inspect equipment.
