- Faculty 9 month
- Provide classroom and laboratory instruction in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems.
- Teach electrical theory and calculations, electrical blueprint and schematic reading, wiring methods, electrical installation, troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, and repair.
- Teach the application and interpretation of the current National Electrical Code (NEC) and other applicable electrical and building codes.
- Provide hands‑on instruction in:
- Residential branch circuits, feeders, services, panels, lighting, receptacles, appliances, and electrical equipment.
- Commercial wiring systems and installation methods.
- Raceway systems, conduit selection, layout, bending, installation, and support.
- Motors, generators, and transformers.
- Single‑phase and three‑phase electrical systems.
- Industrial wiring and power distribution.
- Motor starters, contractors, relays, overload protection, and motor‑control circuits.
- Electrical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
- Electrical testing instruments, meters, and diagnostic equipment.
- Digital logic, solid‑state devices, and related industrial electrical concepts when assigned.
- Demonstrate the proper and safe use of electrical hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, conduit‑bending equipment, trainers, and laboratory equipment.
- Integrate practical, job‑based projects into laboratory instruction.
- Develop lesson plans, assignments, laboratory exercises, demonstrations, projects, assessments, and instructional materials aligned with approved course outcomes.
- Maintain course syllabi and instructional materials in accordance with College requirements.
- Establish measurable student learning outcomes and assess student achievement of those outcomes.
- Use assessment results to improve instruction, curriculum, and laboratory activities.
- Incorporate current industry practices, codes, equipment, technology, and employer expectations into instruction.
- Support student preparation for applicable industry‑based certifications and licensure examinations.
- Maintain appropriate alignment with NCCER Electrical curriculum and certification requirements when applicable.
- Incorporate employability skills such as workplace safety, reliability, teamwork, communication, problem solving, professionalism, and construction mathematics into instruction.
- Maintain a safe, organized, clean, and industry‑appropriate electrical laboratory.
- Enforce all College, OSHA, manufacturer, electrical, and laboratory safety procedures.
- Ensure students properly use personal protective equipment and follow established electrical safety practices.
- Conduct safety demonstrations and reinforce electrical hazard awareness, lockout/tagout principles, ladder safety, tool safety, and proper use of energized and de‑energized training equipment.
- Inspect tools and training equipment before use and remove unsafe equipment from service.
- Assist in maintaining inventories of tools, equipment, instructional supplies, electrical components, and consumable materials.
- Identify equipment replacement and laboratory modernization needs.
- Assist with equipment specifications, purchasing recommendations, installation, and maintenance.
