The Electric Service Technician Level I is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing various electrical systems and components within marine and industrial settings. This role requires specialized knowledge in electrical circuits, motors, generators, and automation systems, with a strong focus on safety compliance and operational efficiency. The technician will also provide training to junior staff, oversee assigned projects, and be prepared for on-call duties to ensure continuous operations.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical circuits, including three-phase motors, generators, switchboards, and motor starters.
- Work with steering systems, alarm and automation systems, xenon fixtures, and grounding systems.
- Utilize diagnostic tools such as multi-meters, amp meters, and meggers for testing and troubleshooting electrical issues.
- Terminate various electrical equipment and interpret electrical schematics and prints.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on pumps and other electrical components.
- Supervise and train Level 2-3 technicians, fostering team development.
- Manage projects as assigned, ensuring completion on time and within scope.
- Be available for scheduled on-call duties, including a seven-day rotation.
- Travel occasionally to different company locations as needed.
- Comply with all safety standards and operational policies.
- Work in a 24/7 environment, including overtime as necessary.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs over extended distances.
- Capable of working in all weather conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and gangways up to 25 feet high.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and work overhead for prolonged periods.
- Must operate vehicles safely and professionally.
- Eligibility to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (no DWI convictions).
- Successful completion of criminal background checks.
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing.
- Previous experience in electrical service work, preferably within marine or industrial environments.
- Strong communication skills and a professional manner in interactions with colleagues, management, and clients.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Basic mechanical skills necessary for maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
