As a Superior Tie & Timber(ST&T) Maintenance Technician, you’ll play an important role in keeping equipment running safely, reliably, and efficiently. In this hands‑on role, you’ll use your mechanical skills to maintain, service, and repair equipment, including performing welding and cutting work, inspecting and replacing key components such as engines, tires, and hydraulic cylinders, and servicing engines and fluids as needed.
The selected candidate will help create a safe and productive work environment by following established safety procedures and supporting the well‑being of fellow team members, plant workers, and equipment operators.
ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Maintain, service, and repair equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations
- Use welding and cutting tools to complete equipment repairs and maintenance
- Inspect and replace key equipment components, including engines, tires, hydraulic cylinders, and related parts
- Service engines and exchange equipment fluids as required
- Follow established safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment for yourself, plant workers, and equipment operators
- Assume Maintenance Supervisor duties when required
- Demonstrate CPKC’s Vision, Values, and Culture in every interaction with team members, clients, and stakeholders
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Valid driver’s license
- Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic experience is considered an asset
- Working knowledge of rail, other track material (OTM), switches, and bridge materials, with the ability to sort, stack, store, and handle materials appropriately
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of warehouse and/or heavy construction equipment
- Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures

Medical and Drug Testing
This is a safety-sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment, including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test, is required. Post-hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
