This is skilled trades work mainly performing preventive maintenance work on electrical systems and devices and related fields such as air conditioning and heating systems.

LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Electrician.

The person applying for this position should possess two years of experience in the Electrical trades (such as Electrician’s helper).

The starting rate is $19.67 per hour for this title with an additional $1 Longevity pay. Rate of Pay may be adjusted based on applicant’s’ qualifications.

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

• performs preventive maintenance tasks on pumps, motors, control systems, electrical panels, electrical circuits, emergency power systems including automatic transfer switches, automatic doors and other electrical equipment and components
• installs, maintains, alters, and repairs electrical wiring (underground and above ground), conduit (underground, exterior, and interior), external light fixtures and poles (parking lot, sidewalk, and building), interior light fixtures, power appliances, light machinery, electrical controls (switches, breakers, fuses, and panel boxes), transformers, motor starters, related switch gear and controls, outlets and all other related electrical circuits and equipment which also includes in-house renovations
• performs electrical-related demolition and construction work on minor projects as assigned throughout the entire campus
• possesses the ability to properly and safely operate the following equipment: manlift, pipe threading machine, drill press, and other equipment used in daily tasks
• takes immediate action to personally stop unsafe acts if delay to inform supervisor may allow accident to occur
• assists other trades as needed
