Position Summary

Peterson Beckner Industries (PBI) is seeking an experienced NCCCO Certified Rigger
- Level I or Level II to support safe and efficient lifting, rigging, and material-handling operations on industrial construction projects.

The Rigger will work closely with crane operators, foremen, superintendents, and other field personnel to safely prepare, inspect, rig, move, and position heavy equipment and materials in accordance with project requirements, established safety procedures, and applicable industry standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform rigging and material-handling activities for heavy construction and industrial projects.
  • Select and properly use slings, shackles, hooks, spreader bars, lifting beams, and other rigging equipment.
  • Inspect rigging equipment before use and identify damaged or unsafe equipment.
  • Determine appropriate rigging configurations based on load characteristics, weight, center of gravity, and lift requirements.
  • Safely attach, secure, guide, and position loads during crane and lifting operations.
  • Communicate clearly with crane operators using approved hand signals and/or radio communication.
  • Assist with critical and complex lifts as directed by the lifting plan and site supervision.
  • Understand and follow load charts, lift plans, rigging plans, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Maintain safe working distances and establish/maintain exclusion zones around lifting operations.
  • Assist with setting up and dismantling rigging equipment and related lifting accessories.
  • Monitor changing site conditions and communicate potential hazards to supervision.
  • Follow all PBI safety policies, site-specific procedures, and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and keep rigging equipment properly stored and organized.
  • Work effectively with crane operators, ironworkers, foremen, and other members of the project team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by project supervision.
Required Qualifications
  • NCCCO Rigger Level I or Level II certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years of verifiable rigging experience in industrial construction, heavy construction, structural steel, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working around cranes and heavy lifting operations.
  • Strong understanding of rigging practices, load handling, and lifting safety.
  • Ability to inspect and properly identify rigging hardware and equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with crane operators and field supervision.
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Ability to work at heights and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to pass applicable pre-employment screening and meet project/site requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NCCCO Rigger Level II certification.
  • Experience with complex or critical lifts.
  • Experience with structural steel erection, industrial construction, or large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience reading lift plans and rigging diagrams.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • NCCCO Signal person certification.
  • Experience working with large cranes and heavy equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and rigging equipment as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights and around heavy equipment.
  • Ability to safely perform duties while wearing required PPE.
