Landry High School is seeking an experienced, high-integrity Head Football Coach with a proven track record of building programs rooted in respect, discipline, character, academic accountability, and student-athlete development. The Head Coach will lead a competitive football program that reflects the values of L.

B. Landry High School and Algiers Charter Schools, while ensuring full compliance with LHSAA rules and school policies. This role also includes leadership of approved fundraising efforts and strict adherence to financial procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and sustain a football program based on respect, discipline, accountability, and character.
  • Establish clear expectations for behavior, attendance, academics, and conduct.
  • Serve as a mentor and positive role model for student-athletes.
  • Promote leadership, teamwork, and pride in L.

    B. Landry High School.
  • Plan and conduct safe, structured, and effective practices and competitions.
  • Teach football fundamentals, strategy, conditioning, and sportsmanship.
  • Develop offensive, defensive, and special teams systems.
  • Use film, evaluation, and performance data to improve player and team performance.
  • Ensure players meet academic eligibility and graduation requirements.
  • Work with counselors, teachers, and administrators to monitor grades and attendance.
  • Provide interventions and support for struggling students.
  • Emphasize that players are students first and athletes second.
  • Ensure full compliance with all LHSAA rules and regulations, including:
    • Eligibility
    • Transfer rules
    • Recruiting restrictions
    • Practice limits
    • Safety and medical requirements
  • Maintain accurate eligibility and participation records.
  • Enforce concussion, heat, hydration, and equipment safety protocols.
  • Ensure all assistant coaches meet LHSAA certification requirements.
  • Recruit, hire (with administration), and supervise assistant coaches.
  • Hold staff accountable for professionalism, instruction, and supervision.
  • Manage scheduling, equipment, facilities, transportation, and game operations.
  • Ensure proper supervision of students at all practices, games, and events.
  • Lead and support approved fundraising efforts for the football program.
  • Work with booster clubs and school administration to build program resources.
  • Ensure all funds raised are:
    • Deposited through the school
    • Tracked properly
    • Spent only with approval
  • Follow all Algiers Charter Schools and L.

    B. Landry financial policies.
  • No off-the-books or unauthorized collections permitted.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with parents, players, and school leadership.
  • Build positive relationships with families, alumni, and community partners.
  • Represent the football program with professionalism at all times.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Physical Education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of coaching experience, with at least 2 years in a head coach or leadership role.
  • Experience working with high school athletes and knowledge of high school sports regulations and policies.
  • Ability to meet all LHSAA coaching certification requirements
  • Demonstrated success building or rebuilding a football program
  • Proven success in leading a competitive football team and developing athletes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, and develop athletes both on and off the field.
  • In-depth knowledge of football rules, strategies, and coaching techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with assistant coaches, athletic staff, and school administrators.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in using sports analytics and performance tracking tools.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Valid coaching certification (if required by state or school district regulations).
  • Knowledge of concussion protocol and safety regulations in high school sports.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lead and participate in physically demanding activities, including practices, drills, and games.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move quickly on the field during practices and games.
  • Ability to lift or carry sports equipment or supplies up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions for practices and games.
  • The position is performed both on the field and in the office.
  • Frequent interaction with students, parents, school staff, and other coaches.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks, particularly during the sports season.
  • Evening and weekend hours required for practices, games, and tournaments.
