A Substitute Bus Driver plays a vital role in supporting the daily transportation needs of the United Community School District by safely transporting students to and from school or authorized school‑related events on an as‑needed basis. This position requires a dependable and caring individual who values safety, punctuality, and positive interactions with children.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid CDL with school bus and passenger endorsements (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to pass required background checks and physical examinations
• Annual Department of Transportation Medical Examiners’ Certificate
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with children is preferred
• A commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism

• Safely operate a school bus on regular or special routes as assigned
• Follow established routes and schedules in a timely and responsible manner
• Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and readiness
• Maintain appropriate student conduct and ensure student safety on the bus
• Build positive and respectful relationships with students, families, and staff
• Communicate effectively with school personnel, students, and families as needed
• Report any safety concerns, incidents, or mechanical issues promptly
• Follow all applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations
