What’s the role

Shell is seeking an Air Operations Supervisor – Facilities to join its team in New Orleans. The position reports directly to the Head of Aircraft Services – Americas.

Shell Aircraft professionals are embedded across many areas of the Business and regularly engage with stakeholders who often operate outside the Shell Aircraft organization. As business partners, Shell Aircraft professionals assigned to Aircraft Business Delivery work to influence stakeholder decisions, optimize resources, and ultimately preserve and/or create value for Shell all while delivering air transport operations at a level of risk that is as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).

This position provides Air Operations Supervisor support and manages air transport facility exposure and services for Shell business units operating in the Americas. Air transport facilities include helidecks, heliports, airfields, airports, and any other location where aircraft operations may occur.

The incumbent will be accountable for the management, control, and improvement of aviation facility operations and emergency response. The role involves providing expertise and assurance and delivering on Air Transport safety and cost performance targets, while functioning as the Air Operations Supervisor (AOS) for Air Transport facility activities across the Americas.

This position will assist the responsible business units in the development, preparation, negotiation, and implementation of harmonized aviation facility contracts and strategies (both initially and upon renewal) to ensure high standards of safety and efficiency at a competitive cost.

The role is accountable for Air Transport facility assurance, aviation emergency response, safety, and other responsibilities as directed by the Head of Aircraft Services – Americas to include, but not limited to, the following:

Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE)
  • Apply and implement the Americas‑Air Transport Safety Case, ensuring that it is adhered to for all major contracts and activities
  • Participate in safety assessments, incident reporting and investigations, and incident risk assessment matrix (RAM) assignments
  • Ensure safety and compliance assessment findings are responded to and tracked to closure in a timely manner
  • Conduct facility (helidecks, heliports, airfields, airports) audits and inspections in accordance with the Shell Group standards
  • Demonstrate safe work practices, actively participate in safety meetings as required, and advise relevant personnel of any non‑conforming processes, procedures, practices and conditions
  • Develop, negotiate, and promulgate aviation facility safe practices based on National Aviation Authority (NAA) regulations and the Shell Group standards
  • Support Shell's commitment to safety by complying with programs regarding health, safety, security, and the protection of the environment
  • Support the Head of Aircraft Services – Americas with specialist advice and technical expertise to facilitate the development, adoption, and effective implementation of Aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS) and tools appropriate to the Air Transport activities undertaken across the Americas, meeting the requirements of the Shell Performance Framework and the Shell Group Requirements for Aircraft Operations (SGRAO). This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
    • Facilitate the development and continuous improvement of Aviation SMS tools and processes including the Americas‑Air Transport Safety Case, model bowties, assessment questionnaires, and improved reporting on aircraft operator, facility, and business unit assessment findings and the required closing actions
    • Address the requirements within the Americas‑Air Transport Team for data management tools, dashboards, and the provision of high‑quality data‑driven information to support the team's goals and overall management of air transport risk to ALARP
