R.J. Corman Railroad Switching is seeking safety-minded people to join our team. The Train Crew Member is an entry-level position that assists in daily train operations, with the goal of progressing to a Conductor.

• Assist in all phases of the safe daily operation of trains.
• Operate equipment according to company policies, procedures, and practices.
• Operate track switches, couple cars, and work on trains in yard operations.
• Move and align various parts of rail equipment to create or build trains.
• Multi-task: pull, control, and maneuver equipment safely to and from other equipment.
• Work with customers to ensure accurate movement and placement of cars.
• Accept increasing responsibilities, including the ability to handle Conductor duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Safety-minded with basic reading and math skills.
• Ability to develop teamwork and work with all levels of personnel to achieve train-handling objectives.
• Ability to give and receive instructions over radio.

• Perform physically strenuous work.
• Constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing safely.
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Lift and carry objects up to 80 lbs.
• Push and pull with up to 150 lbs of force.
• Work primarily outdoors in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles, and equipment.
• Frequent exposure to weather elements.
• Successfully pass background, drug, and physical capacity tests.
