Provision Feed is currently seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious truck driver to deliver feed. This position would primarily be responsible for transporting finished feed to customer locations while learning the customer's site and livestock to avoid errors. The ideal candidate would have experience driving trucks, hold a CDL (can be discussed), and be able to assist with day-to-day feed mill tasks when not driving a truck.
The role would operate on normal working hours, but would change seasonally based on demand for animals. However, the position may require later hours to ensure customer service is met and all feed is delivered.
Must be licensed and insurable to drive. Must have or the ability to obtain a Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License). Must be able to pass a D.O.T. physical every 2 years at a minimum as required by law. Understand the importance of providing exceptional customer service. High school diploma or GED with 1-3 months of related experience. Must own and be knowledgeable in operating a smartphone.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to interact and effectively communicate with customers and individuals at all levels of the organization. Possesses problem-solving capability and understands the operational processes.
Delivery of Feed Products:
Transport and deliver bulk feed, grains, and other related products to customers safely and efficiently. Loading and Unloading:
Load feed products onto the trailer and unload them at customer locations, including operating equipment such as augers on the feed trailer. Route Management:
Plan and follow an efficient delivery route, ensuring timely delivery to multiple stops while minimizing delays. Vehicle Maintenance:
Perform daily inspections of the truck and report any issues or maintenance needs. Ensure the truck is clean and in good working condition. Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations, including traffic laws, weight restrictions, and proper handling of products. Follow company policies on safety and cargo handling. Customer Service:
Maintain good relationships with customers by delivering feed on time and addressing any questions or concerns. Ensure customer satisfaction through professional behavior. Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, including the products delivered, quantities, and customer feedback. Document any issues encountered during deliveries. Equipment Handling:
Safely operate and maintain equipment used for loading and unloading the truck, including pneumatic or auger systems, forklifts, and other machinery. Inventory Management:
Assist with facility stock inventory, ensuring all deliveries are properly recorded and stocked.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Previous experience as a truck driver is preferred, particularly in the agricultural or distribution sectors.
Licensing: Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record. Additional certifications for handling hazardous materials may be required.
Skills: Strong knowledge of driving safety protocols and traffic laws. Ability to lift heavy loads and work in all weather conditions. Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and coworkers. Basic mechanical knowledge to perform routine vehicle inspections and minor repairs.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 pounds or more). Ability to sit for extended periods while driving. Ability to bend, stretch, and maneuver in and around the truck for loading/unloading. Work Environment:
Primarily outdoors, with exposure to various weather conditions. Physical demands may vary depending on the route and delivery requirements.
Compensation: Hourly wage or salary based on experience. Benefits may include health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, etc.
