Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused CDL Driver to support the daily operations of chemical distribution. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including both liquid and dry products. Responsibilities include performing bulk and packaged deliveries, executing proper loading and unloading procedures, completing required documentation, and ensuring compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Brenntag’s safety standards.

- Operate Class 8 tractors and lower power units for chemical distribution.
- Transport HAZMAT and non‑hazardous materials, including liquids and dry products.
- Perform bulk deliveries of liquids and solids, loading and offloading from appropriate trailer configurations using pumps, air, and other equipment.
- Manage the entire process for packaged deliveries, including transportation, transfer, delivery, securement, and execution of all applicable paperwork.
- Operate pallet jacks (electric or manual) and, when required, forklifts and accessories.
- Operate dock locks, dock levelers, and additional equipment for delivery/pick‑up of material.
- Maintain all assigned equipment, including ELDs, virtual gateways, camera systems, and tracking units on tractors and trailers.
- Keep equipment in good working order and perform daily housekeeping.
- Communicate with supervisor and dispatcher to receive delivery instructions.
- Follow all Brenntag operating procedures, safety policies, and site‑specific rules during job functions.
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or U.S. military experience. Prior experience with chemical delivery will be considered if basic qualifications are met.
- Class "A" CDL with Tanker, Bulk, and/or Hazmat endorsement as required.
- Current DOT medical card; ability to pass a DOT physical and PFT if respirator use is required.
- Current TWIC card or proof of application, if required by location.
- Manual transmission driving capability.
- Minimum of 1 year of liquid bulk hauling experience or 3 years of commercial truck driving experience (preferred).
- Certification from an accredited commercial driving academy (preferred).
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow detailed English instructions and write simple correspondence.
- Basic arithmetic skills in all units of measure.
- Willingness to use technology‑based devices such as smartphones, tablets, and transportation platforms (e.g., Samsara).
- Reside within sixty miles of the assigned area; lodging is not provided.
- Pass pre‑employment drug screen, background check, and E‑Verify check.
Job Requirements
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
- Comfortable with general warehouse duties and equipment use.
- Strong attention to detail, customer orientation, and organizational skills.
- Complete all required training and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Represent the company professionally at all times.
- Will not have facial hair that interferes with a respirator (if applicable).
- Pass a pre‑employment DOT fit‑for‑duty exam.
- Ability to sit and drive for long hours.
- Step into and out of equipment safely.
- Stage, move, set up, operate, and break down equipment during loading/delivery tasks.
- Lift up to 75 pounds and frequently push, pull, or move up to 150 pounds.
- Wear required respirator and personal protective equipment.
- Load and unload hazardous material safely.
- Climb ladder when necessary.
