Location: Gibson
Safely drives a truck to deliver and pick up waste containers used by the public in accordance with waste collection principles within the prescribed time.
Essential Job Functions- Drive a container delivery truck to replace or repair containers.
- Provide courteous and expeditious customer service to the public and customers.
- Exhibit a positive attitude toward the company, customers, and municipal goals.
- Answer customer questions and direct them to Customer Service or Sales representatives for additional information.
- Operate compaction and lift equipment on the vehicle.
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections as set forth by company procedures and DOT guidelines.
- Complete safety lane activity and DVIR daily in accordance with company safety lane guidelines.
- Inspect and clean the truck: lift hood, inspect under the hood, walk around and check under the carriage, pump gas, and check fluid levels and tire pressure.
- Prepare, maintain, and submit required company- and regulation-mandated reports and documents.
- Perform other tasks as required, such as assisting other routes, attending community events, or delivering bins and/or carts. Must comply with all Department of Transportation and state requirements.
- Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices.
- Must have a valid driver’s license for the state in which the position operates and a clean driving record.
- Must have a Class A or B CDL valid for the state in which the position operates.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Follow a designated refuse collection route or work schedule.
- Hear, see, and use normal body motion within the required ranges.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Drive a front-end, side, rear-end, or roll-off loading refuse truck, including right-hand driver’s position on certain equipment, while observing legal and defensive driving practices.
- Maintain written records and service responses.
- Must be able to speak and read English well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers, dispatch, and supervisors, understand highway and traffic signals, and make legible entries on paperwork.
