Distribution Lead Person- 2nd Shift; -Hour Shifts, M-F

Business Unit Overview

Michael Foods, Inc. is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry, specializing in egg products, refrigerated groceries, and potato products.

Norwalk, Iowa – a southern suburb of the Des Moines metropolitan area. The facility produces high‑quality precooked egg patties and various French toast products.

• Promote a safe and productive work environment, foster teamwork across shifts, and lead by example.
• Conduct pre‑shift meetings, ensuring everyone stretches, communicating changes and daily workload, and adjusting headcount as needed.
• Monitor door procedures, prep and close doors following inbound and outbound protocols.
• Collaborate with office staff to maintain consistent workflow to the floor.
• Oversee pallet truck deliveries, unloading and reloading trailers, and repair pallets in a timely fashion.
• Verify Hot List loads following the Hot List procedure.
• Monitor the floor for safety concerns or infractions and act appropriately.
• Operate a forklift safely and productively; assist operators and perform daily tasks when not executing lead duties.
• Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, document damages, and bin placement.
• Back up the supervisor in their absence.
• Train and progressively develop forklift operators.
• Encourage teamwork within and between teams through positive communication.
• Adhere to safe work practices, GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality and food safety. Report any conditions that affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of six months experience in a palletized warehouse environment.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Completion of a Powered Industrial Truck training program.
• Proficiency with standard office technology (computer, copier/fax, phone system).
• High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent education and experience.
• Effective English reading, writing, and speaking abilities.
• Strong mathematical skills.

• Analytical decision‑making skills that benefit the company while safeguarding employee health and well‑being.
• All distribution operators receive MFI‑approved Powered Industrial Truck training/certification at the start of employment.

• Frequently bending, stooping, standing, walking, and lifting up to 100 lbs.
• Frequent use of forklift, pallet jack, trash compactor, and battery changer.
• Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments, handling high/low temperatures, loud noises, fumes, dust, and visual display terminal exposure.
