Materials Supervisor

Under broad supervision, the Materials Supervisor supervises personnel who work in areas of warehouse delivery, receiving, storage and physical inventory of various materials. The material coordinator will supervise warehouse employees and forklift operators, maintain warehouse facilities in workable order, safeguard the corporation's investment in materials through efficient warehousing practices. This job class requires comprehensive knowledge of warehouse inventory management systems, bar-coding technology, and work order management systems and the ability to organize, budget, and manage multiple projects.
Typical duties include directing and supervising work performed in the warehouse, scheduling and prioritizing tasks, supervising employees, managing federal compliance program, acting as a technical resource to field personnel, reviewing work in progress and completed, and participating in departmental and other meetings.
Minimum qualifications include three or more years of experience working in a warehouse environment with one year of supervisory experience, knowledge and ability to monitor materials utilization, supervisory skills, effective oral and written communication skills, demonstrated leadership, organizational, common sense and problem solving skills, human relation skills, effective customer service skills, intermediate computer literacy, fundamental mathematical ability, ability to establish priorities and solve operational problems, and flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.
Education requirements include an associate's degree or bachelor's degree in business administration or related field. A comparable combination of formal education and work experience will be considered.
Physical requirements include maneuvering in and around the warehouse, bending and stooping, lifting and moving boxes weighing up to 35 pounds, pulling or pushing up to 75 pounds, using a pallet jack, climbing on and off material handling equipment, viewing computer screen, and utilizing keyboard.
Work environment includes commissary, warehouse, or distribution environment with forklifts, material handling and production equipment, and exposure to noise, heat, cold, wind, and rain.
