We are seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable Part Time Senior Staff Accountant to join our collaborative finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with the flexibility of working in a dynamic, evolving environment. You'll play a key role in month-end close activities, fixed asset accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting while partnering closely with a team committed to excellence and continuous improvement.
WhatYou'll Do as a Part time Senior Staff Fixed Asset Accounting (Approximately 20%)
- Reconcile construction-in-progress and work-in-progress accounts.
- Capitalize new assets and maintain fixed asset records.
- Run and review monthly depreciation calculations.
- Record and maintain fixed asset activity within the ERP system.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance of asset schedules and related reporting.
- Prepare and post month-end elimination entries.
- Support timely and accurate monthly close processes.
- Reconcile deferred revenue and deferred expense accounts.
- Follow close procedures and maintain supporting documentation.
- Reconcile prepaid sales commissions and prepaid tour expenses.
- Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain recurring schedules and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with accounting projects and process improvements.
- Support evolving departmental needs and cross-functional initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience supporting month-end close processes.
- Hands-on experience with fixed asset capitalization and depreciation accounting.
- Experience reconciling deferred revenue and deferred expense accounts.
- Strong Excel skills for reconciliations, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience working within an ERP system.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and fluctuating workloads throughout the month.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- CPA designation or CPA candidate.
- Experience working within a nonprofit organization.
- Experience navigating organizational change and process transitions.
- A proactive problem solver who takes ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Comfortable working independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
- Flexible and adaptable when priorities shift.
- An effective communicator who collaborates well across departments.
