The Assistant Project Manager ensures the safety of personnel involved in construction projects, maintains service quality, and contributes to profitability goals throughout project life cycles.
Responsibilities- Support the Project Team by scheduling and attending project turnover meetings and following up on items.
- Assist the Project Manager and field leadership with daily operations, communicating conflicts/issues with customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Serve as the primary communication liaison among all parties in the construction process.
- Anticipate project team needs and provide IT assistance for field leadership as required.
- Draft and gather change order quotes and build maintain customer relationships and satisfaction.
- Maintain administrative and document control: set up job folders in shared drives and eSub, upload contracts, proposals, estimates, and budgets, create spec books and drawings, draft and submit RFIs, update warranty and drawings/models, and monitor current runsets.
- Manage material and equipment: request, organize, review, and send submittals; create and maintain equipment trackers; release equipment with PM approval; perform fixture/GRD takeoffs to verify against foreman takeoffs.
- Coordinate project closeout: schedule and attend kick‑finish meetings at 80% completion, work with QA/QC, BIM, Prefab Designer, Prefab, and Warehouse; assemble O&M documents and assist with start‑up, owner training, extra stock, redlines, commissioning, and LEED requirements; schedule, attend, and document project completion meetings.
- Ensure all project communications are properly documented and inspections and documents are requested and processed promptly.
- Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in the Construction Industry.
- Experience in trade positions or college internships desired.
- Advanced computer skills required; proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD/Bluebeam/Revit/Trimble or similar programs desired.
- Excellent time‑management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work fast‑paced environments and both on construction sites and in office settings.
- Strong professional communication skills (phone, email, business writing, verbal); strong listening skills.
- Valid driver’s license, ability to pass a criminal background check and pre‑employment drug test.
