Electro-Optical Calibrations & Lab Support Specialist
Orion/Arcfield is seeking an experienced On-Call Electro-Optical Calibration & Lab Support Specialist to provide subject matter expertise supporting the setup of laboratory spaces, equipment, and calibration engineering activities for electro-optical payload assembly, integration, test, and calibration efforts.
This role operates within a collaborative Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment composed of Orion/Arcfield personnel and subcontractor partners. The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge in electro-optical systems and calibration methodologies and can provide support on an as‑needed basis during critical program phases.
Responsibilities- Provide subject matter expertise in the setup and configuration of laboratory environments and equipment used for electro-optical payload assembly, integration, testing, and calibration.
- Support planning and execution of optical alignment and calibration activities.
- Review and provide technical feedback on electro-optical payload calibration plans, processes, and procedures.
- Review and provide technical insight into radiometric model development, analysis, and performance validation.
- Assist in evaluating calibration approaches to ensure alignment with system performance requirements.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of engineering and programmatic documentation related to calibration and test activities.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and program staff in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with program quality standards, technical requirements, and safety protocols.
- HS 5-6 Years
- Demonstrated experience with electro-optical systems, including calibration, alignment, and performance verification
- Strong understanding of radiometric principles and modeling for electro-optical payloads
- Experience reviewing or developing calibration plans, test procedures, and technical documentation
- Hands‑on familiarity with laboratory or integration & test environments
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and system performance requirements
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide constructive technical feedback within a team environment
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi‑organization IPT setting
