Position SummaryProject Developer leads the development of utility‑scale renewable energy projects within the CAISO market, including solar, storage, and hybrid projects. The role owns project execution from early‑stage development through late‑stage readiness for Notice to Proceed (NTP), coordinating cross‑functional teams and driving projects through key milestones. The Developer serves as the central point of accountability for project success, ensuring alignment across interconnection, permitting, land, engineering, and commercial work streams while navigating the complexities of the CAISO market.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of renewable energy projects across CAISO from site selection to execution readiness.
- Drive advancement through key milestones including site control, interconnection queue progression, permitting approvals, and commercial structuring.
- Develop and manage integrated project schedules, budgets, and risk registers; track milestones and proactively adjust plans.
- Coordinate inputs across interconnection, land, permitting, engineering, environmental, and commercial teams; integrate SME inputs into cohesive development strategies.
- Identify and manage risks related to CAISO interconnection, permitting, land constraints, and market considerations; lead trade‑off discussions and recommend solutions.
- Lead engagement with landowners, utilities, CAISO stakeholders, permitting agencies, and consultants; represent AES in project meetings and negotiations.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental studies, or related field.
- 4–7 years of experience in renewable energy development or related field.
- Strong understanding of interconnection, permitting, land, and project development processes.
Preferred:
- Experience with CAISO interconnection and California permitting processes.
- Experience developing solar, storage, or hybrid projects in CAISO.

Owns end‑to‑end project development outcomes within the CAISO portfolio, acts as central coordinator of all project activities and decisions, and operates with moderate independence, escalating critical issues as needed.
Salary & CompensationThe expected salary for this position at commencement of employment is between $105,000 and $131,325 per year; base pay may vary based on location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
The total compensation package includes an annual bonus, medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, 401(k) eligibility, paid time off (vacation, sick leave, parental leave), and more.
