Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer (Part-Time)

Job Description

This part-time entry-level mechanical engineering role focuses on the physical inspection of incoming mechanical parts for a design and build environment. You will use precision measurement tools, interpret engineering drawings, and clearly document your findings to help ensure that components meet required specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities

+ Perform physical inspection of incoming mechanical parts to verify conformance with engineering specifications and quality requirements.

+ Use calipers and other hand and inspection tools to measure dimensions and tolerances accurately.

+ Interpret engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), to understand design intent and inspection criteria.

+ Conduct fit checks of parts as needed to confirm proper assembly and functional compatibility.

+ Document inspection results clearly and accurately, including measurements, observations, and any nonconformances.

+ Communicate inspection findings to the appropriate stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.

+ Follow established procedures and guidelines for inspection, documentation, and handling of parts.

+ Maintain inspection tools and equipment in good working condition and report any issues promptly.

Essential Skills

+ 0-1 years of experience in a mechanical, manufacturing, or related engineering environment.

+ Hands-on experience using hand tools and inspection tools such as calipers for dimensional measurement.

+ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.

+ Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and documentation.

+ Ability to follow established procedures and quality standards.

+ Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment

The role operates within both office and manufacturing areas that support product development. You will spend time in an office setting reviewing engineering drawings and documenting inspection results, as well as on the manufacturing floor performing physical inspections and fit checks of incoming mechanical parts using hand and inspection tools. The environment involves working around mechanical components and equipment, requiring adherence to standard safety practices and appropriate attire suitable for a combined office and manufacturing setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Louisville, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
