Senior Civil CAD Designer

Job Description

Dewberry has a unique opportunity for a Senior Civil CAD Designer to join our Civil/Land Development Group in our Louisville, CO office. The role supports the Civil CAD Design Manager and the team by working with engineers, project managers, and other professionals. The ideal candidate will take on many of the more complex tasks currently completed by the CAD Design Manager to enable greater focus on training a skilled group of young designers.

This position requires completing higher‑level tasks with an emphasis on design for residential, multi‑family, commercial, and mixed‑use projects. Work activities include grading, pipe networks, alignments, profiles, sections, and redline drafting for conceptual, preliminary, and final design drawings.

• Prepare base files, plan exhibits, construction documentation and detailed design drawings for an array of land development and civil engineering projects.
• Provide drafting and design services by preparing and maintaining AutoCAD 3D drawings that compile to create a set of construction drawings ready for agency approval.
• Coordinate with internal team members and applicable members of the larger Project Delivery Team (architects, landscape architects, traffic consultants, etc.) to deliver successful projects.
• Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to various municipal specifications and standards.
• Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of CAD standards across the Civil/Land Development Group.
• Provide daily mentoring and quality reviews to ensure timely and accurate submittals for junior designers.
• Delegate and schedule less complex assignments with junior designers, matching tasks to skill levels.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

• Associate degree in drafting or engineering technology.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a CADD designer (AutoCAD Civil3D) with civil design, specifically land development experience.
• Strong working experience with current versions of AutoCAD and the Civil 3D package to create surfaces, alignments and profiles.
• High attention to detail, good organizational and time‑management skills.
• Demonstrate a keen eye for quality and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Ability and vision to take a project from early planning stages to final approved plans.
• Understanding of land development design concepts, practices and procedures including drainage, earthwork, streets and utilities; implementation of these features correctly.
• Excellent communication skills and desire to work in a team environment.
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast‑paced, fluid working environment.

The projected range for this position is $95,000–$128,000 annually. Depending on other factors—skills, experience, location, and market conditions—the range may vary slightly.
