Wind Project Engineer

Louisville, CO (Full‑time telecommuting permitted, 25% travel required to project sites)

Responsibilities
  • Conduct due diligence for M&A projects, performing thorough reviews of potential mergers and acquisitions to assess risks, opportunities, and feasibility.
  • Lead project planning and development, overseeing early stages such as feasibility studies, site selection, and preliminary design to align with strategic goals and profitability targets.
  • Provide constructability guidance to the prospecting team by evaluating project designs for construction feasibility, ensuring practical and efficient execution.
  • Develop preliminary Balance of Plant (BOP) designs, creating initial plans for site civil work, turbine foundations, electrical collection systems, substations, and generation tie‑lines.
  • Perform micro‑siting activities, optimizing turbine placement, road layouts, electrical collection routes, and substation/switchyard locations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Review and negotiate contracts, leading the negotiation of BOP and turbine supply agreements (TSAs) to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Conduct design and change‑order reviews, evaluating BOP and switchyard designs, contractor change‑order requests, and ensuring ongoing project quality and compliance.
  • Ensure safe and high‑quality project execution, guiding construction efforts to meet safety standards, quality benchmarks, budget limits, and schedule goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any field) or related discipline, plus 3 years of experience in wind system design, development, construction, and analysis.
  • OSHA 10‑hour or comparable job‑site safety certification.
  • EIT qualification (pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and application to the state board) or PE qualification (pass the FE exam followed by 3 years of graduate‑level experience).
  • Experience in:
    • Substation layout, planning, civil and structural design using AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or Civil 3D; high‑voltage equipment, protection and control design; power system studies using ETAP, PSSE, PSCAD; project management with Microsoft tools or Primavera.
    • Electrical design, trenching and cable laying, MV cable testing, termination and energization of MV collection; design, construction, and operation of MV collection, substations, gen‑tie, interconnection switchyards, site civil, turbine foundations, and geotechnical works.
    • Gen‑tie line design with PLSS CAD, permitting and environmental considerations, overhead and underground line construction, testing, and commissioning.
    • Roadway design, drainage and erosion control using Civil 3D, ArcGIS or AutoCAD; crane pad construction.
    • Foundation design, geotechnical investigation, concrete construction, foundation testing.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $108,000 to $145,000 USD per year (base pay may vary by market, experience, and other factors). Annual bonus and total compensation package also included.
