Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Civil Engineering team and project stakeholder teams within AES and others to support and manage project timelines.
- Assist the Civil Engineering team with the review of Civil and Hydrology/Hydraulic Scope of Work and specifications development.
- Review and verify preliminary studies of hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, and earthworks estimates for projects in development through EPC stages of development ([5%, 10%, 30%, 60%, 90%, IFP, IFC]).
- Assist in the preparation of preliminary documents for development, permitting, and grading plans.
- Evaluate proposals for engineering studies, engineering, and construction services for project civil works.
- Perform preliminary site visits with project teams to identify site development and construction risks, and assess project constraints.
- Coordinate with and support project stakeholders on Civil engineering items during development through execution phases of projects.
- Review, comment, and support internal design deliverables during development through execution project phases.
- Occasionally perform Job Safety Assessments and Safety Walks to identify job‑site hazards.
- Support the Civil Engineering team with construction, contractors, and project engineers to manage project timelines as necessary.
- Support and perform detailed civil design review diligence for Merger and Acquisition projects.
- Complete ALTA Survey review for projects in development to ensure completion and identify deficient information.
- Assist in the creation of specifications and design standards for civil works, construction stormwater, and post‑development stormwater management in accordance with applicable codes and best practices.
- Provide site grading and layout recommendations based on existing conditions, proposed design elements, and equipment standards for project sites.
- Recommend stormwater and detention design optimization to maximize site reliability and reduce costs.
- Confirm civil engineering reports and studies are complete and incorporated in the project IFP and IFC documents.
- Collaborate with the Asset Management team to troubleshoot existing projects or develop repair and remediation plans.
- Develop design solutions for repairs and modifications to systems, and close the gap between various AES subcontractors and vendors as needed.
- Familiarity with regional AHJ entitlement requirements and standard processes.
- Lead process improvements for execution of safe, quality, and high‑performance projects, mentor and educate the team on changing trends in technology, best practices, and safety, and participate in AES CE’s growth planning process by contributing to process improvement task forces and other strategic planning activities.
- Primary
Qualifications: - Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent technical field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ professional experience in civil engineering design, land development, construction, and stormwater analysis with a strong technical background.
- Experience in real‑world civil, geotechnical, and stormwater management design including earthwork analysis, drainage, stormwater flow analysis, and road design.
- Field experience on large civil projects, including troubleshooting, quality evaluation, and construction support.
- Experience with Civil Engineering standards and codes in the US.
- Experience with Civil 3D or other advanced modeling tools.
- Plus
Qualifications: - PE qualification, or on track to become qualified.
- Master’s degree in civil engineering.
- 2–5+ years of experience with Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage System, or Wind design and interconnection.
- Geotechnical knowledge and experience during project design and development.
- Spanish language skills.
- OSHA 10‑hr or comparable job‑site safety certification.
The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $94,000 and $112,625 per year; base pay offered may vary depending on market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package also includes an annual bonus.
