The Optical Talent Center at Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineer to provide design support for optical payloads. We are looking for someone to join our team with the guidance of senior engineers, and to collaborate and contribute across the design team. You will play a key role in design and development work on a variety of passive, active, and directed energy optical payloads, which present a diverse range of challenges.

We are looking for a colleague with strong written and oral communication skills to present to a variety of audiences. Strong quantitative skills will also be key to success, with the ability to apply them to the formidable mechanical challenges of precision optical payload subsystems.

• Bachelors degree in engineering, physics, optical sciences, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with standard design tools ie CREO, NASTRAN/NX, MATLAB, Solid Works, CATIA, ZEMAX, Python, and/or other relevant assets
• Familiar with specification development, vendor interface, parts selection, and/or configuration control
• US citizenship and the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance
