About the Role
In this role, you will assist creation of electrical designs and documentation for control panel systems, using CAD tools under the direction of senior staff while ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
ResponsibilitiesWhat You Will Do (Essential Functions):
- Create detailed and accurate electrical designs and drawing packages, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to project specifications
- Utilize Solid Works Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical to develop schematics, layouts, and documentation under the guidance of senior engineers or management
- Execute full-cycle electrical design and drafting tasks, applying practical design methods, technical knowledge, and industry best practices
- Assist with layout and assembly of PLC control panels, enclosures, HMIs, wiring, and I/O components in accordance with UL 508A standards and company guidelines
- Interpret and work from schematic diagrams, one-line drawings, and electrical data sheets to ensure correct system integration and functionality
- Review designs to identify conflicts, inconsistencies, or errors in panel layouts and schematics, and proactively resolve issues
- Assist in producing 2D panel layouts from conceptual sketches provided by engineers and senior design staff, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Support project engineers and managers in preparing panel designs and documentation for quotes, bids, and project planning activities
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, ask questions when needed, and help ensure projects are completed on time
- Other job duties as assigned.
What You Bring (Skills, Abilities, Experience):
- A High School Diploma or G.E.D. is strongly preferred
- An associate's or higher degree in computer-Aided Drafting, Applied Science, or related technical education is preferred
- One or more years of experience in CAD design and production of electrical design documents
- At least 0-3 years of experience in conduit schedules and layout work, cable tray schedules and layout work, schematics, power one-lines, and field verification and auditing experience.
- Knowledge of electrical control schematics and wiring diagrams for motor controls, and process control
- Experience with engineering, manufacturing, and/or oil and gas environments is preferred.
- Must have Solid Works Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required.
