DescriptionStratom is a mission-driven engineering company developing autonomous and unmanned ground vehicles and robotic systems for demanding industrial and defense environments. Our teams design, build, and deploy advanced systems that combine rugged mechanical platforms with cutting-edge autonomy.
We work across the full product lifecycle—from early concepts and prototypes through testing, field deployment, and production. Our team members solve complex technical challenges while collaborating across mechanical, electrical, software, autonomy, and manufacturing disciplines.
Stratom is seeking a versatile, hands-on Robotics Technician to help build, test, troubleshoot, and maintain complex electro-mechanical systems. You will play a key role in our unmanned vehicle and autonomous robotic arm projects, working alongside engineers and designers to turn new concepts into working systems and solve challenging technical problems.
We are open to candidates ranging from early-career technicians with strong technical training to highly experienced technicians with extensive hands-on expertise.
As a growing R&D firm, our work is highly collaborative and hands-on, and no two days are exactly alike. Team members contribute across a wide range of disciplines, from robotics and electrical systems to fabrication and mechanical systems. We value people who are resourceful, adaptable, curious, and excited by the opportunity to work with their hands and solve problems that don't always have an obvious answer.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Support the build, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of complex electro-mechanical robotic systems.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with electro-mechanical systems and components.
- Perform basic prototyping, fabrication, and modification of parts using tools and equipment such as mills, lathes, and welders.
- Work closely with the design and engineering teams to identify issues, develop solutions, and improve system performance.
- Operate and maintain the warehouse and shop, including forklift operation, tool and equipment maintenance, inventory organization, and general shop upkeep.
- Assist with supply chain activities, including sourcing, ordering, receiving, and inspecting components and materials.
- Take an active role in maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring the safe operation of equipment.
We are open to candidates at different stages of their technical careers, from entry-level technicians and recent technical program graduates to experienced technicians with extensive hands-on experience. We are particularly interested in candidates who are curious, mechanically inclined, resourceful, and excited to develop their skills in robotics and advanced electro-mechanical systems.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Technical certifications and formal technical education are highly desired.
- Completion of a relevant technical trade program, such as diesel technology, hydraulics, welding, mechatronics, electrical technology, or a similar field, may be considered in lieu of professional experience.
- For experienced candidates, 5+ years of experience in a related technical or industrial field is preferred. Relevant education, training, and hands‑on experience will be considered together when evaluating candidates.
- Competency with computers, spreadsheets, electronic documentation, and other digital tools.
- Experience, training, or demonstrated ability in fabricating and modifying metal parts using equipment such as mills, lathes, and welders.
- Experience, training, or demonstrated ability to read and build from electrical schematics, including crimping and soldering.
- Ability to travel occasionally as needed.
- Enthusiasm for our mission and for building, testing, troubleshooting, and improving robotic systems.
For more experienced candidates, we are particularly interested in:
- 3+ years of experience in a related technical or industrial field.
- Experience independently troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience with fabrication, welding, machining, wiring, robotics, hydraulics, or vehicle systems.
- Experience working alongside engineering or design teams in an R&D, prototype, manufacturing, or field environment.
- Experience working with diesel engines.
- Experience with hydraulic systems.
- Experience with electric vehicles or similar battery-powered…
