The City of Louisville is seeking a talented and motivated Technical Support Specialist I or II to join our IT Department. As an IT Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to our employees. Your primary duties will include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, setting up and maintaining computer systems, and assisting with basic network-related tasks.

This position is under the general supervision of the Information Technology Operations Manager, the IT Support Specialist position supports the end users and devices of the City of Louisville. This role will also participate as team member for IT project implementations such as new phone systems, computer replacement, security improvements, and many other IT modernization efforts.

Pay Ranges Depending on Experience
  • IT Support Specialist I – $59,945 to $80,932
  • IT Support Specialist II – $65,936 to $89,024

  • Provide excellent customer service by performing technical assistance and support for end‑users via phone, email, in person for roughly 300 end users across 13 locations across the city.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software.
  • Assist with user account management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as system updates and backups.
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff to escalate complex issues.
  • Document and maintain records of support requests and resolutions in the City’s service management tool.
  • Assist with basic network troubleshooting and connectivity issues.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through effective communication and problem‑solving.
  • Assist with project implementations such as but not limited to: PC replacement, phone system replacement, Access Control etc.
  • Provide support for audio‑visual (AV) systems in conference rooms throughout the city
  • Other duties as assigned to grow and develop your IT skills and support the IT team
ESSENTIAL SUPERVISORY DUTIES

This position has no supervisory duties.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE IT Support Specialist I Pay Range: $59,945 to $80,932
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in Information Technology that includes work directly with end‑user support.
  • Experience working in an environment which includes troubleshooting personal computers and mobile devices using Microsoft operating systems, integrated automated systems, and voice/data/image communications.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work nights and on weekends on occasion
  • Any equivalent combination of education, certifications, training, and experience may be considered as determined by the City of Louisville
