About the Role

Synergy Management Group is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations for a portfolio of real estate entities. This person will own the books across several distinct real estate LLCs, serve as the steward of all financial record keeping, and act as a trusted partner to ownership. The ideal candidate brings robust accounting experience, strong organizational discipline, and the ability to build and document the systems that keep a growing real estate operation running smoothly.

This is a high-trust, high-ownership position. As part of our hiring process, all candidates will be required to complete a background check.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and maintain accurate books and records across multiple real estate LLCs.
  • Manage all day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), and payroll.
  • Produce monthly financial reports and present them clearly to ownership.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial data.
  • Lead year-end close and coordinate supporting documentation for tax preparation.
  • Apply working knowledge of federal and state tax laws to ensure compliance across all entities.
  • Track loans and insurance policies, including balances, payments, renewals, and key dates.
  • Develop budgets and financial forecasts to support operational and ownership decision‑making.
  • Design and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accounting and bookkeeping processes.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of relevant accounting and bookkeeping experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
  • MBA or CPA certification preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with payroll, AR, AP, year-end close, and bank reconciliation.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Proven ability to document processes and create SOPs.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, App Folio and Quick Books.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to handle confidential financial information with integrity.
Compensation & Hiring Process
  • Salary starting at $90,000/year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • A background check will be required as part of the hiring process.
