Our client, a well-established public accounting firm in the Louisville area, is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join its growing team. This position offers the opportunity to take a lead role in a variety of tax, accounting, and advisory engagements while working directly with clients and firm leadership.
Unlike firms with a highly specialized focus, this role provides exposure across tax planning and compliance, financial statement work, client advisory services, year-end planning, estate planning, and trust-related engagements. Responsibilities- Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and other tax returns
- Research tax issues and provide recommendations on tax planning strategies
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on tax and accounting matters
- Assist with financial statement preparation and related accounting engagements
- Perform and review audit, review, and compilation procedures as assigned
- Prepare and review work papers in accordance with professional standards
- Analyze financial data and ensure accuracy of client financial records
- Collaborate with partners and firm leadership on complex client engagements
- Support year-end planning, estate planning, trust services, and advisory projects
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff members as needed
- Draft reports, correspondence, and client deliverables
- Manage multiple client engagements and ensure deadlines are met
- Stay current on tax legislation, GAAP, and industry developments
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 5+ years of public accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on tax preparation and planning
- Experience preparing and reviewing individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax returns
- Exposure to financial statement preparation, client accounting services, or assurance engagements preferred
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations
- Ability to research complex tax issues and provide practical solutions
- Experience managing client relationships and multiple engagements simultaneously
- Proficiency with accounting and tax software
- Excellent communication, organizational, and client service skills
- CPA designation or CPA-track preferred, but not required
- Diverse public accounting experience beyond traditional tax compliance
- Significant client interaction and advisory exposure
