Job Description

As part of UPS’s Fortune Global 500 organization, you will develop, implement, and manage a tactical sourcing process for the Airlines Procurement and Operational strategy, integrating with UPS’s source-to-pay (S2P) strategy across a wide range of commodities and stakeholders. You will act as a change agent, delivering the highest value to internal and external customers while achieving the lowest total cost.

Your role includes coordinating competitive bid quotations, evaluating pricing, negotiating with suppliers, and overseeing the entire procurement cycle to ensure compliance with procurement analysis processes and S2P strategy.

Job Summary

The Strategic Sourcing Supervisor will analyze the Total Cost of Ownership to determine optimal purchase or repair methods, procure products and services at the highest quality and best rate, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, conduct site visits, and supervise others within the department.

Responsibilities
  • Understand the supplier relationship, develop supplier performance measures and incentives, and create a savings plan.
  • Resolve procurement requests, issues, and inquiries to support customer needs.
  • Assess and validate customer needs and expectations to ensure the right products or services are delivered on time and at the right price.
  • Draft contracts based on UPS standards, vendor proposals, and UPS requirements to secure vendor deals.
  • Modify standard contracts based on commercial and technical needs; develop contractual requirements for final acceptance.
  • Work with outside counsel to write and negotiate project‑specific contracts for high‑visibility, high‑dollar value contracts.
  • Develop position papers highlighting commercial and contractual issues, determining project and contractual goals.
  • Prepare contract summaries, risk analysis documents, and recommendations for management to execute binding agreements and justify commercial viability.
  • Interface with vendors to ensure ethical and fair business practices.
  • Develop Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposal (RFP), evaluation matrices, and vendor correspondence to meet business needs.
Required Skills
  • Collaborate with Strategy & Sourcing leaders and peers to implement procurement outcomes aligned across commodities, yielding verifiable savings, increased controllable spend, increased diverse supplier spend, and other supply chain improvements.
  • Experience with project management, prioritizing, multi‑tasking, and leading groups; skilled in RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes, and in negotiations using technical experience for value‑based outcomes.
  • Organization, initiative, and ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of ways to identify and measure current needs of the customer or business; use business need to define project requirements.
  • Establish metrics and performance tools; use various measurement methods to monitor performance; set meaningful goals and objectives.
  • Multicultural agility: recognize the importance of understanding global and cultural diversity and learn how cultural differences impact business.
  • Negotiation: understand negotiation techniques; identify stakeholders and participants; grasp each party’s objectives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, database creation/maintenance).
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years experience in Procurement Operations, Finance, Airline, or equivalent.
  • Active listening, negotiation skills, public speaking, conflict management, team building, and collaboration.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience editing and negotiating procurement contracts.
  • Experience in Oracle, Ariba, and Coupa.

  • This job is at grade 20E.
  • Hours of operation: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm EST.
  • Position located in Louisville, KY.
  • Must currently reside in the same geographic location or be willing to self‑relocate.
