Base pay: $70.00/day – $90.00/day. Final pay depends on skills and experience.

Camp Overview

Camp Libbey – Nestled along the Maumee River just outside Defiance, Ohio, Camp Libbey offers a variety of camping experiences since 1936. With almost 600 acres of fields, forests, and ravines, it supports activities such as hiking, archery, creek paddling, climbing wall, water slide, and swimming pool.

Camp Whip Poor Will – A 500+ acre campus jam-packed with facilities, program areas, woods, creeks, and trails. Accredited by the American Camp Association, it offers a range of outdoor experiences and lodging options for first‑time and experienced campers.

What You’ll Do

As staff, you’ll live on‑site at Camp Libbey (Defiance, OH) and Camp Whip Poor Will (Morrow, OH). You’ll help girls choose their own adventures while participating in hiking, swimming, outdoor living skills, teamwork building, archery, nature activities, crafts, and badge activities.

Open Positions
  • Trip and Travel Specialist – 1 Opening – $75/day
    Assists in planning, managing, and implementing the travel program and related equipment needs. Applicants must be 21+ and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Adventure Coordinator – 1 Opening – $90/day
    Manages and delivers high adventure challenge activities, supervises program specialists. Conducts planning, supervision, and delivery of activities at the high challenge course, low challenge course, archery, and sports area. Adventure Challenge Education & Archery training provided. Applicants must be 21+ and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Program Specialist – 1 Opening – $75/day
    Assists in planning, managing, and implementing the general program and related equipment needs. Serves as camp photographer during the summer season. Applicants must be 18+.
  • Sports Program Specialist – 1 Opening – $80/day
    Develops and delivers adventure challenge activities and supports the sports and archery programs at resident camp. Applicants must be 18+. Adventure Challenge Education and Archery Training provided.
  • Lead Counselor – 1 Opening – $80/day
    Provides leadership to the camp unit, supervising and guiding unit counselors and ensuring a quality Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Applicants must be 18+.
  • Unit Counselor – 8 Openings – $71/day
    Provides a safe and supportive camp experience by supervising campers, ensuring their well‑being, and guiding them through daily routines and activities. Applicants must be 18+.
  • Unit Counselor and Lifeguard – 5 Openings – $78/day
    Provides a safe and supportive camp experience, supervising campers and ensuring a safe waterfront environment. Lifeguarding certification provided. Applicants must be 18+.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

Full‑time throughout the summer season. Days of work are primarily Sunday through Friday. Staff are expected to stay overnight. One two‑hour break Monday–Thursday. Housing and food provided.

Required Education And Experience
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma
  • Experience in youth programming
  • Must enjoy and be comfortable working outdoors with youth
  • For roles that require on‑site living – must be comfortable with and able to live onsite 24/7 during camp season
Physical Demands

Employees must speak or hear, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth‑perception, and focus adjustment.
