Position: Director of Construction – Data Center Development
A leading infrastructure development firm is seeking a Director of Construction to oversee the delivery of large-scale data center construction projects in the Cleveland market. This leadership role is responsible for directing construction strategy and execution across multiple projects, with a strong focus on MEP systems, critical infrastructure, and commissioning
. The Director of Construction ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to performance specifications
.
- Provide executive leadership for end-to-end construction delivery, from preconstruction and permitting through commissioning and handover
- Establish construction strategies, project controls, and execution standards across multiple data center projects
- Lead RFP processes, contractor and vendor selection, contract negotiations, and commercial oversight>
- Oversee capital budgets, cost controls, forecasting, and financial reporting for large-scale construction programs
- Direct and mentor project managers, construction managers, and site teams
- Manage general contractors, subcontractors, and engineering/design consultants
- Partner closely with design, development, operations, and commissioning teams to ensure alignment
- Ensure compliance with schedule, safety, sustainability, quality, and regulatory standards
- Drive reporting, documentation, and executive-level project updates
- 12+ years of experience in construction leadership, with significant experience in mission-critical or data center environments (5+ years in a Data Center leadership role)
- Deep expertise in MEP systems, electrical and mechanical infrastructure, and critical power/cooling
- Proven success leading large, complex construction programs and multi-site teams
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing capital-intensive budgets
- Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Project
, and construction cost management platforms - Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field
- PMP or equivalent certification preferred
- Experience delivering multi-megawatt data center campuses and phased deployments
- Strong understanding of commissioning, testing, and infrastructure handover
- Ability to oversee multiple concurrent projects across Ohio and the Midwest
- Familiarity with local permitting agencies, contractors, and labor environments in Cleveland / Northeast Ohio
