Purpose
- The Asphalt Paving Project Manager manages asphalt paving projects from estimate through completion of the project life cycle. This position is responsible for managing daily activities and issues related to completing asphalt paving work, including project planning, scheduling, subcontractor and vendor coordination, project cost tracking, quality control, contract administration, safety support, and owner relationships. The Project Manager works closely with Superintendents who oversee field paving operations.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Oversees asphalt paving projects from start to finish by developing a master project schedule that is updated and communicated to all subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and field personnel to assure timely project completion.
- Estimates asphalt paving projects and manages the jobs that they estimate from award through final completion.
- Identify scope of work and perform quantity takeoffs from engineering plans and bid documents.
- Establishes project subcontract requirements, vendor needs, and material procurement plans, and reviews these requirements with divisional management.
- Responsible for setting up subcontractors, suppliers, trucking, and other vendors required for successful project execution.
- Coordinates scheduling of crews, subcontractors, materials, and equipment needs in partnership with Superintendents and field leadership.
- Responsible for controlling costs and maintaining profitability for the project utilizing paving and construction experience.
- Continually monitors projects to assure company and regulatory procedures are adhered to.
- Oversees change order documentation and justifications.
- Coordinates with engineers, inspectors, and client or owner representatives to resolve project issues.
- Reviews field paving activity with Superintendents to ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Conducts regular project inspections and advises supervision on progress and quality.
- Supports safety initiatives and assists in addressing conditions requiring attention.
- Coordinates with Superintendents to ensure all paving and subcontract work is within project scope and specifications.
- Administers project policies and procedures to subcontractors and vendors.

- Experience working as a Project Manager on DOT or heavy highway projects. Project size ranges from $100K to $50 million dollars.
- Previous experience working as a Foreman or Superintendent on heavy highway projects a plus.
- Estimating experience.
- Proven ability to create and manage budget.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detailed oriented.
- Proficient in MS Office suite, GPS equipment, specialized software.
