Engineering Technician I (S)
Position Number: , Grade: NC07, located in the Goldsboro Construction Resident Engineer’s Office.
Responsibilities- Support engineers and other professionals with technical duties such as construction inspection, surveying, materials testing, sampling, erosion control inspection, and construction traffic control audits on assigned projects.
- Inspect for compliance and/or code, collect and analyze field data, test materials, review and interpret design plans, and analyze engineering-related data or product data.
- Perform construction layout tasks including measuring, staking, marking and clearing brush.
- Maintain daily work records and reports.
- Apply safety philosophy and program to all operations and wear safety-toed shoes.
- Communicate effectively with technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public.
- Traverse rough terrain and work near high volumes of traffic and heavy construction equipment.
- Evaluate and apply engineering judgment to plan interpretation.
- Knowledge of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
- Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
- Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
- Minimum Education:
Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or related curriculum from an accredited institution. - Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted when no qualified candidates meet the minimum requirements.
Grade NC07: $37,377 - $65,408.
