We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Estimator to join our growing commercial construction team. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing the estimating process from initial bid review through final proposal submission, ensuring accurate, competitive, and profitable project pricing. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in commercial general contracting, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, designers, and clients.

- Lead, organize, and develop the estimating team, providing direction on estimating strategies, methods, scheduling, workload management, and professional development
- Lead and coordinate estimating activities to ensure timely, accurate, and complete project estimates and bid submissions
- Maintain historical cost databases and drive continuous improvement through standardized estimating procedures, best practices, and process development
- Lead preconstruction efforts from project pursuit through contract award
- Participate in owner, architect, and design team meetings during design and construction development
- Provide conceptual, schematic, design development, and GMP estimates
- Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications to ensure required documentation is present and scope is determined
- Critically analyze bid documents and understand risk and opportunities, reporting to management
- Review hard bids and budgets to ensure quality, accuracy, and coverage
- Evaluate constructability issues
- Evaluate value engineering opportunities
- Ensure deadlines are met
- Analyze schedule impacts and cost risks
- Ensure compliance with owner/bid package requirements
- Identify scope gaps, overlaps, exclusions prior to bid submission
- Coordinate with project management and operations teams to mitigate identified risks
- Train and mentor estimating personnel and new hires
- Work alongside other departments (accounting, design, sales, operations, marketing) with a professional and team-oriented attitude
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, architects, clients, owners, and vendors
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods and materials
- Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive pricing
- Recruit, identify, and develop talent while fostering a high-performance culture and driving long-term success through people
- Strong organizational skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work

- Experience with software such as:

- Familiar with AI
- Procore
- Microsoft Project
- Microsoft Office
- Estimating software is a plus
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
- Strong leadership and communication abilities
- Understanding of commercial project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CMAR, GMP, etc.)
- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering, or 10+ years of preconstruction/estimating and/or operations experience on commercial construction projects
- Knowledgeable of civil/site construction, foundation and structural systems, miscellaneous metals, casework, doors, specialties, interior finishes, exterior building wall systems, mechanical and electrical systems, and the costs of these systems
- Ability to prioritize team success over personal recognition
- Full time in an office environment with regular interaction with field personnel
