Overview
Churchill Downs Racetrack ("CDRT"), the world’s most legendary racetrack, has been the home of The Kentucky Derby, the longest continually held annual sporting event in the United States, since 1875. Located in Louisville, CDRT features a series of themed race days during Derby Week, including the Kentucky Oaks, and conducts Thoroughbred horse racing during three race meets in the Spring, September and Fall.
CDRT is located on 175 acres and has a one‑mile dirt track, a 7/8‑mile turf track, a stabling area, and provides seating for approximately 60,000 guests. The stable area has barns sufficient to accommodate 1,400 horses and a 114‑room dormitory for backstretch personnel. CDRT also has a year‑round simulcast wagering facility.
This part‑time seasonal position is responsible for producing artwork files derived from approved creative, as well as preparing final, press‑ready and digital‑ready files for Churchill Downs Racetrack (CDRT) and The Kentucky Derby. The ideal candidate is highly detail‑oriented, deadline‑driven, and thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment while maintaining adherence to brand standards. A portfolio of work is required for consideration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare, format, version, revise, and export print‑ and digital‑ready artwork based on approved creative and project specifications for hand‑off in either the printed or digital space, and creating and supplying assets to other departments and outside vendors.
- Utilize Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) to create high‑quality, press‑ready files based on project specifications.
- Adapt existing designs into multiple sizes, formats, and deliverables across print and digital applications.
- Work collaboratively with the Creative Team to deliver final products for various internal partners while adhering to brand standards.
- Package and release final files to printers and/or internal partners.
- Complete additional creative design projects as assigned.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Complete all assigned work within deadlines and regularly communicate status updates to the team.
Skills and Abilities
- Portfolio of work required for consideration.
- Fluent in a Mac environment with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
- Strong understanding of and ability to adhere to brand standards and visual guidelines.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to plan, prioritize, and problem‑solve with minimal supervision.
- Degree in graphic design or similar.
- Pursuing a degree in graphic design or similar.
Weekend and evening work may be required during live racing meets. Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Must be able to maneuver around the racetrack and withstand hot/cold conditions.
