Job Description
The Louisville, Kentucky site of BAE Systems, provider of some of the world’s most advanced, technology‑led defense, aerospace and security solutions, is actively seeking a Laser Tracker Inspector.
This position will support the Second Shift on a 9/80 Schedule with typical hours 3:30 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret customer drawings and specifications and identify appropriate inspection methods.
- Interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
- Perform first piece, last piece, and in‑process inspection checks.
- Evaluate nonconforming material to determine final disposition.
- Provide support to Manufacturing Engineering and other business units.
- Direct the work of less senior personnel.
- Use laser tracker to align components to machine coordinates.
- Determine best fit for weldments to optimize machine stock.
- Support when needed on off‑shifts and/or via overtime.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies.
- High School diploma (or GED) and 8+ years related work experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience with ANSI Y14.5 GD&T.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
- Computer literacy required to prepare appropriate reports and documents.
- Experience reading and working with blueprints.
- Experience with portable metrology inspection and alignment.
- Understanding of and ability to use shop math.
- Ability to support overtime and/or the off‑shift team when needed.
- Able to obtain clearance level for program support.
- Ability to work alone and with a cross‑functioning team.
- Effective communication skills both verbal and in writing to convey information.
- Experience performing inspection and alignment with laser trackers, especially Leica.
- Portable metrology experience using Spatial Analyzer or equivalent software.
- 3D metrology inspection of weldments and complex machined parts.
- Experience working independently, especially on an off‑shift.
Full‑time salary range: $88,189 – $149,922.
