Role Summary

Luckett & Farley is seeking an inspiring Landscape Designer or Urban Planner to help our clients shape and build the natural and social environments in the communities we serve. As a designer within our multi-disciplinary firm, this individual will participate in a wide variety of project types, from master planning to construction documentation, requiring versatility, creativity, and close collaboration with architects, engineers, clients, and community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Design Excellence & Technical Development (Design + Sustainability)
  • Conducts research to inform planning and landscape architectural projects.
  • Prepares plans, renderings, diagrams, exhibits, and character boards for master planning and site development projects.
  • Uses 3D modeling tools (Sketch Up and Enscape) to produce accurate, compelling representations of outdoor spaces.
  • Develops and prepares documentation for master plans, site studies, and landscape design packages.
  • Creates construction documentation for site plans and development plans for agency approvals.
  • Maintains working knowledge of contemporary trends in landscape planning and design, construction techniques, irrigation systems, and civil, architectural, and structural principles, integrating them into aesthetically coordinated, well-resolved solutions.
Productivity & Continuous Improvement (Productivity)
  • Actively participates in and pursues continuing education, including CEUs, Lunch & Learns, trade organization involvement, and independent study.
  • Actively supports the strategic goals of the firm, departments, and managers, and understands how personal actions contribute to them.
Client & Project Delivery (Client + Productivity)
  • Develops and participates in community outreach, stakeholder visioning sessions, and workshops for data gathering and project communication.
  • Works with vendors to identify options for material selections, outdoor furnishings, structures, plantings, and equipment.
  • Conducts assigned aspects of the design scope on multiple projects, helping ensure on-time and under-budget completion.
  • Collaborates successfully with owners, user groups, vendors, suppliers, code authorities, and co-workers, including other engineering departments, architects, project managers, and administrative staff, to deliver high-quality, well-coordinated, and technically proficient design solutions.
  • Actively participates in project meetings during design activities; occasional travel involving day trips and overnight stays to out-of-town project locations is possible.
  • Works successfully within a multi-disciplined team environment across multiple projects, sometimes managing competing deadlines or milestone requirements.
  • Operates in a cross-functional capacity as workflow demands change, supporting other production requirements as part of a project team.
