Job Description Summary

Position

Seeking a Fellowship-trained Intensivist to join our Cardiovascular Surgical Critical Care team with UofL Health. UofL Health and the University of Louisville School of Medicine are recruiting an academic Anesthesiologist with a subspecialty certification in critical care to join its Cardiovascular Critical Care division.

The intensivists lead the multi‑disciplinary Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) team at the UofL Health – Heart Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. This 17‑bed unit houses critically ill cardiac surgical patients, patients requiring mechanical circulatory support, heart and lung transplant recipients, and patients with unstable ascending aortic disease.

The CVICU team is comprised of physicians, non‑physician providers, and dedicated nurses, pharmacists, and therapists. In addition, the CVICU regularly hosts medical students and post‑graduate trainees from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, including Critical Care Anesthesiology fellows.

Opportunities exist for teaching, research, and scholarly effort as well as clinical time in Anesthesiology. Academic rank will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience, and interest of the candidate.

The Division of Cardiovascular Critical Care is housed in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. The multidisciplinary design of the Department engenders a collaborative relationship between its critical care and surgical members.
