Psychiatrist – Weekend & Holiday Onsite Coverage in Louisville, KY

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Schedule: Weekends & Federal Holidays (Onsite)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Psychiatrist to provide onsite weekend and holiday psychiatric coverage within a federal medical center setting in Louisville, KY.

This role supports adult patients in an inpatient and/or emergency care environment and requires strong clinical judgment, crisis assessment skills, and the ability to work independently in a structured healthcare system.

This is a mission-driven opportunity serving a diverse adult population, including individuals with complex psychiatric and co-occurring conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations

  • Perform medication management and treatment planning

  • Provide inpatient psychiatric coverage during weekends and federal holidays

  • Conduct suicide risk assessments and crisis intervention

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams

  • Document encounters in electronic medical record system

  • Participate in admission and discharge assessments as needed

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school

  • Completion of accredited Psychiatry residency program

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry

  • Active, unrestricted medical license (Kentucky preferred)

  • Active DEA registration

  • Minimum 2 years of post-residency clinical experience

  • Experience in inpatient or emergency psychiatry preferred

Preferred Experience
  • Experience working within federal or government healthcare systems

  • Experience treating veterans or complex adult psychiatric populations

  • Familiarity with structured credentialing environments

Additional Requirements
  • Must pass federal background investigation

  • Must meet credentialing and privileging requirements

  • Malpractice insurance required (coverage assistance may be available)
