Summary
The Lead Teacher will be responsible for designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum that fosters social-emotional, cognitive, and physical growth for children of all abilities.
Duties Curriculum & Instruction- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with age-appropriate practices and individual learning styles.
- Implement inclusive and individual practices that support children of all abilities and learning needs.
- Promote language, literacy, numeracy, creativity, and social-emotional development through daily play-based learning.
- Incorporate intergenerational learning opportunities where applicable.
- Attend team meetings, training, and CEC's events as required.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Ensure that the classroom(s) is/are organized and clean.
- Use positive guidance and conflict-resolution that support emotional development and resilience.
- Always maintain active supervision of children, indoors and outdoors.
- Supervise and mentor assistant teachers, volunteers, and interns.
- Collaborate with other Lead Teachers and the Director to align on goals, policies, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with the Director, Assistant Director, all other Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Classroom Support members and Disabilities Specialist to ensure consistent routines and learning experiences.
- Build trusting relationships with families through regular communication and involvement.
- Maintain open and professional communication with staff and families.
- Conduct family conferences and share developmental updates using clear and compassionate language.
- Celebrating each child's uniqueness while partnering with caregivers to support growth both at school and at home.
- Follow all health, safety and emergency protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations and internal policies.
- Maintain accurate attendance, incident reports, and developmental assessments.
- Participating in ongoing training, professional development, and CPR/First Aid certifications needed.
- Maintain a welcoming, equitable, learning environment for children of all abilities.
- Model patience, empathy, and positive behavioral support strategies.
- Celebrate diversity and promote inclusive learning and play.
- Encourage collaboration and positive workplace culture among team members.
Associate's degree preferred in childcare or in related field.
Minimum of two years of experience working in a childcare setting with the following credentialing and certifications preferred and/or willing to obtain:
- CDA (Child Development Specialist)
- DC (Director's Credential)
- CCCC (Commonwealth Child Care Credential)
- CPR/First Aid
Understanding of inclusive practices and experience working with children of varying developmental abilities.
Ability to be team-oriented.
